Gateway to the Internship Vortex

Fabulous Internship Blog

So, in my perusing of the wonderful Web, I came across one lady who knows her stuff when it comes to internships. I have already mentioned Lauren Berger’s internship database on quarterlife.com, but another site to check out is definitely her blog. Berger, who held 15 internships within her first four years in college, posts daily with tips and advice dedicated to helping students snag their internships. Topics range from advising international students about how to go about applying for and securing a US internship to specific tips for internships in the different industries. Just like the girls Lauren and Stephanie of InternshipRatings.com , Berger is intent on helping anyone and everyone get the best information out their about earning internships. The InternQueen, as she is royally dubbed, is definitely someone to follow.

Find her on Twitter @InternQueen and check out her blog http://internqueen.wordpress.com/

Some Down Times, but There’s Still Hope

A press release on the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ (NACE) website stated that internship hirings have dropped recently by 20.7% and full-time college graduate hirings have depleted by 22%. While these numbers are unfortunate, hirings and internship programs are still going strong. In a quote from the release, NACE Executive Director Marilyn Mackes said, “Most of the employers responding to our survey say they are committed to their internship programs and plan to continue with them. They report that they are reducing—not eliminating—their internship opportunities.” So everyone, don’t get yourselves down! Just keep looking for that great internship and know that companies are going to strive to teach you what you need to know to survive in that distant land called the “real world.” Oh, and make sure to look up all the great opportunities out there on Internshipratings.com

Checking Out The Competition

What’s a good company without a little competition to make things interesting? Through my Twitter stalking, I’ve found another site through which to find internships, but with a bit of a twist. The site itself is actually an online site for an online sitcom called “quarterlife.” The site includes mostly information about the online series, but the internship lineup isn’t too shabby. While it doesn’t have actual ratings for the internships, the site provides a lot of information about each opportunity and links to apply directly to the internship. Check it out for internships and then come back to Internshipratings.com to see if it really is worth the coffee.

Twitter: My New Obsession

So, as many of you know, the online networking site Twitter connects thousands of people with friends, family and other people and subject/companies they’re relatively interested in. The girls of Internshipratings.com have their very own Twitter page, allowing you to follow them and get any news they announce or find interesting. So please add them @gigigirls88 and keep yourself updated!
